Hedgehog/Gli signaling as a mediator of the pro-tumorigenic effect of Fusobacterium nucleatum in colorectal cancer stem cells One 12-month research fellowship at Università Cattolica School of Medicine of Rome The project will investigate the role of the morphogenetic pathway Hedgehog/Gli in mediating the interaction between Fusobacterium nucleatum, an oral pathogen alleged to colonize and promote colorectal cancer, and the malignant stem cells (CSC) that initiate this neoplasm. The research, which involves expertise in cell biology (CSC isolation and culture), Microbiology, and Molecular Biology, will hopefully identify novel molecular targets for preventing and treating this life-threatening disease. Activities will be carried out [...]
